Description

Inputs

  • AIA full disk images in multiple wavelengths.

Outputs

  • Processed images showing locations of CME dimming regions
  • Entry in small events / CME dimming region catalogue detailing size, location, duration, intensity

Test Data

  • TRACE and SOHO EIT images in multiple wavelengths

Tool Interface

  • commandline: AIA image as input; tool will run continuously in UK on new AIA data to generate catalogue

Science Use Case

  1. User wants to see location, size, duration and / or intensity of CME dimming regions.
  2. CME dimming region algorithm based on Berghman's code runs continuously on new AIA data to update CME dimming region and small event catalogue.
  3. User searches catalogue on size, location, duration and / or intensity to locate metadata about CME dimming regions.
  4. User may use location and time information to search for AIA images of interest or further data relating to CMEs.
